Who is up for a frosty, wintery theme with a palette of cold blues, chilly whites and a little bit of sparkle, of course?
The main products for December's Art Recipe are: White Gesso, Glass Glitter & Art Alchemy Sparks paints! Now let's see what Finn's wonderful DT has created for us today!

"Hello, wonderful creatives! It's that time of year again โ the time when we can create loads of Christmas projects. I absolutely adore making my own decorations not to mention the baking and candy making! The holiday season is seriously my favorite time of year and it's such a joy to share with you my little Christmas frosty tree. With Finnabair art mediums you are exposed to endless decor possibilities! :)"
This month's art palette is my absolute favourite and I totally enjoyed creating a medley of Gesso, Glass Glitter & Sparks paints in the frosty pale blue hue. I have used a thermocol cone as a base for the tree. I attached the clay moulds using the Heavy Body Gel and then created dimensional textures by adhering the Art Stones in different sizes.
A double coat of Finnabair's Heavy White Gesso covering the entire tree added a textured look. This Gesso is so versatile that it's difficult to limit its usefulness! Next, I added some highlights with dry brush strokes of Sparks acrylic paint to give some shimmer and shine to the tree. I added some Glass Glitter to add some interest to random wooden elements from my stash and finished the project, by adding some brush strokes of Color Bloom sprays in the design creases to darken some of the details and reveal the minute details of the stones, moulds and textures.

"I love to make Christmas decorations and gifts, but packaging is just as important to me. Such handmade bags will give even an ordinary gift a special character. It doesn't take much to create something like that. You don't need special products to create pretty snow or frost effects. You actually just need White Gesso, some shiny paints, and a thick glitter."
I used Art Alchemy Sparks paints - I splattered them to get a lot of shiny dots. To get the frosty effect, I recommend using Pearl Glass Glitter. It looks like tiny pieces of ice and it's easily to adhere - simply use ordinary glue or gel medium (Soft or 3D Gel). Gesso is also excellent for making splatters. Just add a little water, mix well, and splash like paint. Good luck!

"Merry Christmas, lovely art friends. Today I am sharing with you a fun little project of making Christmas decorations using air dry clay."
1. I started my project by rolling out the clay and using a cookie cutter to make disks. You could use any shape you like, but I thought the circles made them feel like snow globes and I was looking for a wintery Christmas feel.
2. Once the clay had dried, I applied a coat of Heavy White Gesso to seal the clay, and to give each decoration a crisp white background. Then I started the layering process. As you can see there are three different designs and I worked on them all in different stages.
3. For the first design I used Heavy White Gesso through a stencil, Sparks acrylic paint (Magical Pond), and some Mica Powder for the background colour, then glued on a ribbon, and added some Glass Glitter for shimmer.
4. For design two I used gauze and a Christmas tree and stars to create a winter scene. I then covered that with Heavy Gesso and added some Sparks acrylic paint (again Magical Pond) for the sky, some Snowflake Paste and, finally, some Glass Glitter for sparkle. This was my favourite decoration in the end.
5. For design three I used Heavy Body Gel to glue down some pieces of Christmas tree and decorations. I then covered all of that with White Gesso to give all three decorations the same theme. I used Sparks Acrylic Paint for the blue base (again, Magical Pond was the colour used), and some Glass Glitter at the top to look like shimmering snow.
The colour scheme matches my Christmas tree theme this year perfectly, so all of the decorations are hanging proudly for all of my family to see.
