Friday Free For All!

Every once in awhile it's great to have a creative "open mic" with no theme, no line, no colors to reign you in! And exactly that's what we did today. It's FREE FOR ALL FRIDAY! That means total freedom to create whatever you want. Are you curious to see what our gals did with this TOTAL FREEDOM???

"In a mood of Halloween, I decided to create a steampunk-style owl. As a base I used a ready-made laser wooden die-cut, which I found in a local store. I started with gluing all elements to the base (except the eye.)" ~ Ola

Next I covered everything with Black Gesso. It's important to do it for two reasons. 1. It's a great primer before painting. 2. Different materials absorb paints and mists in a different ways. It means that you can apply the same color on chipboard, wood, and metal, but get really different results. When you use Gesso, this can't happen. You can control your creative process. After the Gesso dried, I colored the owl with Color Bloom sprays and added a few finishing touches with Art Alchemy waxes.

"I LOVE Halloween! It is such a fun time of year, and creating a bit more grunge is always FUN! I altered this cheap little plastic skeleton using a variety of art mediums and very minimal embellishments. And, of course, I had to throw a coffin in (even though it's too small for this particular skelly...shhh....). I really hope you are inspired to create some last minute Halloween decor!
