Paper Piecing + More!

All week long we've been celebrating Julie Nutting's doll stamps! Today we are wrapping it up with four beautiful "dolls" all done up differently...from paper-piecing to watercolor! "I made a vintage tag with beautiful  "Tasha". The most fun part I had while playing with the doll stamps was paper piecing their dresses. They look so pretty with a gorgeous Prima paper dress,  right? "I decided to create a room decoration for a little girl using the Candie doll stamp. I had a door base, made of plywood according to my design. I described for you, below, three steps on how I created this piece!" ~ Marta

1. The decorative wood base was covered with white gesso and a clear crackle. Then I added the color with acrylic paints and Color Bloom sprays.

 

 

 

2. I created a paper composition that will be my underlay for a further composition. I have prepared all the elements that I want to add into my decor.

 

 

 

3. After layering all the pieces, I painted some elements with white gesso.

"On this page I used the Julie Nutting stamp, Abby, as a part of my background, as well as a design element. Abby is stamped to the background and then colored with watercolors. If you look closely, you see how I cut the corner of the skirt loose from the background so that I could tuck the paper layers underneath to lock the design even better."
