Finnabair has another great recipe for August! It might be too hot to cook, but you can cook up a great project with Finn's Art Recipe! Let's grab all of our mixed-media to create some beautiful, textured pieces of art to celebrate the last of summer. This month's recipe combines Art Stones + Art Pebbles = AAAAAMAZING beach texture! Add a blue, gold, and white palette from Art Alchemy Paints to complete the beachy scene!
"Then, some final touches with gold paint. I applied it with dry brush on top of my design to highlight its texture and all the details. This must be done very gently and with a little amount of paint. I hope you like my mixed-media sea creature! Visit my blog at http://www.kasiabogatko.com/"

"Sweet summertime´s here. It´s full of sunshine, water splashes, and cocktails. When talking about margaritas…I love paper coasters. They're thick and come in many shapes and sizes...such a wonderful base for any mixed-media madness. Today I´m sharing a quick MM coaster make-over, which is a bit vintage and packed with summer love.
I started off by cutting the same size circle (as the round coaster) from scrapbooking paper and glued it on the coaster. Then I started to play with Art Alchemy Acrylic Paints. I applied some here and there with my Silicone Brush. When dry, I hot embossed an anchor stamp on it. Next, I rubbed embossing ink on the edges of the coaster and sprinkled some gold blue embossing powder on it, and used my heat gun to dry it." ~ Denisa Gryczova
"Then I dipped some gauze in Clear Sculpture Medium, formed the desired shape and dried to make it stiff. I glued the guaze on the coaster and painted it a bit with Heavy White Gesso. When dry I added a bit of colour using sprays and pigment powders in blue and grey tones. Again, I let it dry. Next, I started to embellish the project. I glued on Art Stones, Mini Art Stones, and Micro Beads here and there. I also used some pearls, real shells, and Mechanicals Rusty Gears and Knobs.
In my stash, I found a wooden frame that´s perfect size to fit my coaster in. It was black and I had to change the colour, so I coated it in Heavy White Gesso and Art Alchemy Acrylics. I attached a small piece of chevron washi tape on it and stamped the surface with black archival ink. Next I attached Mechanicals Rusty Gear on it using a turquoise wire."
"I glued the coaster in, or rather on the frame, leaving the space on one side. I attached a vintage pic of two teens on the frame. I also inked the edges. Next, I glued on the sentiment saying "Into the Sunset", reminding me of summer love. As the final touch I glued Melange pebble stones down below. One more thing, I did some splashes using acrylics. Voila, the work´s done! Check out my blog at http://scrapholka.blogspot.cz/"

"Art Stones fit the summer theme so well, as they remind me of sand and beach. I started to think and even asked my husband what the word “summer” brings to his mind. He listed the beach, vacation and travels, so I altered a tiny little cardboard suitcase for this Art Recipe project!" ~ Riikka Kovasin
"First, I added some fabrics from the Fabric Pack to inside of the suitcase and molded them into shapes by using the Sculpture Medium. Next I added the Art Stones for the beachy, sandy feel."
"After adding other embellishments and colors, I then added the Art Pebbles and painted them using one of the Opal Magic Acrylic Paints, making them look like pearls in the sand. A summer-like treasure chest was finished! To see even more projects, visit my blog! http://paperiliitin.blogspot.
