Ready For A NEW Challenge?

 

Welcome to July and welcome to our new Card and Tag challenge! Each month we will feature a new sketch for you card & tag-lovers to play along with. You are welcome to use the sketch for ANY project, although they are perfect for cards and tags, (fondly referred to as CAT.) Riikka, the talented sketch artist, created this month's design for us which features four main elements (think flowers, stamped images, stickers, and more); a sentiment spot, and some textured design in the background (think watercolors, paint, or even glitter!). Interpret this sketch into your projects and please share them with us using the blue inlinkz buttons below each challenge!

 

 

 

"I really enjoyed working with the sketch. I would probably never made this card without it. At the beginning I wasn't sure how to fit four squares in a row on one card until I found cute little butterflies in the Vintage Emporium Watercolor Paper Pad. I only knew I wanted to use this paper. I thought about creating a purple card with touch of black. I've used beautiful Valentina - Ciana flowers and wood from the Salvage District collection, along with a resin mannequin and a pretty doily - what gave me a delicate, feminine card." ~ Emilia Sieradzan

"I interpreted the sketch with many overlapping paper layers put on an angle on top of each other. I embellished my card using two roses, and adding some fiber from the “Aspen Blush” loom kit underneath. For the sentiment part I used a rub-on word, together with a stamped greeting. July's BAP celebrates stars and stripes as the USA enjoys 4th of July festivities! You could also use for sport pictures, baby layouts, etc. This sketch will allow you to feature multiple pictures, grounded by the horizontal lines and star background. If you love journaling, this page has plenty of room for you! The stars are the limit for interpreting this sketch to your own layouts! Have fun with this sketch and share your creations with us. 

 

 

"What a lovely sketch to play with this month!  I tweaked it just a little bit, opting for one photo, instead of three.  Instead on the stars I created hearts (which also doubled as my watercolor challenge for day nine of 'Prima's 30 Day Watercolor Challenge'!) ;)  This layout is about my first Mother's Day with this little guy.  He totally completes me and I couldn't help but use the pinks and oranges on here......super sweet for my bubba and I!!  I also had to add in my usual flower clusters and lots of mixed media goodness." ~ Stacey Young

"I totally love the BAP sketch this month and the striped background caught my eye at once! I used the Striped Resist Canvas with Watercolor Confections, Color Bloom sprays and lots of Prima flowers for my page. Prima Watercolor Confections are like the most luscious watercolors I have tried! Finally, I finished off my page with micro-beads, glass glitter, and stamping in black ink. Our next BAP layout was created by the talented Tiffany Solario! She created pops of color with the Color Bloom Sprays, Micro Beads, and our Liberty flowers. Her interpretation of the star background of the sketch is reminiscent of the explosion of color that you see in fireworks! How beautiful!

"This layout celebrates a new friend I got last winter. The title refers both us being Turisas fans (she’s the No 1 one), but also that I’m kind of her fan girl! The plan is a road trip to see the band in August, so can’t wait!" ~ Riikka Kovasin

Hello, color! This month's Prima Product Pick is filled with sizzling colors of summer! How perfect for the 4th of July, BBQs, lazy beach days, or summer baseball games...this palette will work for so many different themes. And did you notice how varied the products are? I spy with my little eye...a few Julie Nutting summertime stamps, NEW alphabets (shhh!), Christine Adolph rub-ons, lots of flowers, a Fiber Arts weave, plus a Bloom Girls bird stamp! Whew!

"I loved the bright colors here, yellow, blue and red. I created these pages in my faith journal. Yellow first, then the blue using my Color Bloom through my Daisy Stencil, and I finished it off with the red flower! This verse inspired me today so I journaled and created these two pages! Creating with amazing Prima colors and flowers doesn't have to be hard! Just start!" ~ Bonita Rose

"I just adore this color scheme and theme. The first thing I thought of was the beach and a little sailboat in the water. I painted the girl on a piece of ephemera using the white gesso and the decadent pies watercolor set. The watercolor paints nicely on top of the dried gesso. I love the tooth that the gesso creates. I created the lil crab on some ephemera with the red oil pastel and stabilo pencil. I cut the girl out, as well as the crab, and glued them down with of the gloss gel. I love creating in this way because it allows you to audition out the characters, as well as be able to play with the composition." ~ Mindy Lacefield

 

 

"The watercolor panel is a beautiful substrate wrapping around to give you that gallery-like feel. And it comes ready to hang (which is awesome). I extended the colors around the board to give it some amazing depth and professional look."
