Are you liking our new make-over feature with Miranda's scrap studio with the fab IOD home décor line? We love how she takes just a few key products, then uses them to enhance her room in her own personal "industrial chic" style. It really shows off the versatility of each IOD product, is friendly on the budget, and really pulls the style of the room together! Today we are launching part three...the stamped entry door + wall re-do! (You can find the original Make-Over Monday post here and the drawer storage cart re-do here!)
Can you see the plain wood door and nondescript entry in the reflection of the mirror? For just a few dollars you can totally transform this entry. Come see what Miranda did and how she did it!
Miranda doesn't just paint or wallpaper walls like most of us! No, she has to add a book paper accent wall for a fabulous vintage effect. How cool is that? (As with any room redo involving old paper, please use a fire-retardant sealer.) After finishing the wall on each side of her door, she moved on to tackle the plain wood door. She wasn't truly happy with the door after stamping it...but stumbled across a wonderful solution.
"I had a few mishaps along the way, but I only ended up trashing one thing in my room! I was determined to turn the mistakes into something amazing! Take my door, for example. I had only intended to stamp with the Louis Stamp Set (such a large, gorgeous set,) But, no matter how hard I tried, our old door wouldn't give me a clean impression. So, I just decided to go with it and embrace the distressed look. And when I was done, I walked outside and saw these metal grating pieces on the ground, scrapped, by my honey's shop. Ding! We framed it out and added it on top of the door. So, now you see that gorgeous stamping, plus the metal to lend the Industrial look I wanted all along." ~ Miranda
IOD Products - Entry Door & Wall
IOD Décor Ink- Warm Gray -815097
IOD Décor Ink - Stone - 814127
IOD Clear Décor Stamp - St Louis - 814335
IOD 10x12" Stamp Block - 815004
There's nothing better than watching a project "in action", so we here we go with a quick video showing how Miranda added book paper to her wall (hello?!? Who even thinks like this?) + a bit of rolling and stamping to finish this section of her studio! We LOVE what she created with just five IOD products.
- The IOD Décor Ink was created to use with the IOD Décor Stamps. If your stamping surface is not perfectly flat (as most older doors and walls are), then embrace the imperfection! The finished results will be wonderful.
- IOD's Décor Inks come in twelve colors and can be used on walls, wood, paper, fabric, and basically any surface! Yes, on fabrics too! Talk about opening up a whole new world for room make-overs, huh?
- The Décor Roller Stamps were created to be used with any paint...thinned down a bit with water..for perfect rolling results. However, as you can see Miranda used them with the décor inks for a different look.
- Practice rolling and stamping on kraft paper or a piece of cardboard so you learn how to line up the design! It's simple and fun.
I just do not think creatively like Miranda does! She is crazy talented and willing to try anything. I had the chance to meet Miranda in person just a few days ago! She is as crazy beautiful as she is talented! If you are loving her room re-do so far make sure you check back next week for a gorgeous décor transfer project. It is SWEET!
Amazing studio! xoxo
