"Hello, my name is Brittany Durham and this is my dog, Woody! This is my first house, and I'm so excited about decorating it and giving it lovely, personal touches. My favorite colors for my house are royal blue, aqua, and teal, with accents in buttercup or coral. I want to incorporate a peaceful blue in every room of my house."
We recently asked Brittany, a brand-new house owner (and one of my daughters!), if she would be willing to try a few of Prima's pieces to make a gallery wall in her new home. She jumped at the opportunity since we were willing to let her do whatever she wanted! Since she is an artist and graphic designer we knew she would REALLY personalize her pieces. Her house, shared with her hubby, Josiah, and their dog, is absolutely beautiful and has so many elements that she hand-picked, or created herself. You can see she LOVES texture, color, and art!
"I love Gallery Art and decided to do a special spot in my home. I really needed a command center to organize all of our papers and mail, but I also wanted it to look pretty."
"This is a wall in our eat-in kitchen, which now nicely serves as our mail center. I used the Carte Blanche Wood Plaques as a part of my wall "collage." Adding Paintables on top was a nice touch. You can color them (as I chose to do on the large piece) or leave them as-is (as you can see on the smaller pieces.) I love how the whole wall turned out! Now a spot in our house, that was once an eyesore, is one of our favorite places to be."
Brittany colored two small and one large Carte Blanche Wood Plaques with Chalkboard Paint. Once dry she added Oil Pastels for vibrant color.
Adding a few pieces of IOD metals provided beautiful contrast and texture to the plaques. She also played with one of our large Paintables, using colors that coordinated with the large piece of art also included in her gallery wall.
"One tip I learned while creating this space is that planning is important. Not all the pieces worked well together - I changed the chalkboard orientation to portrait instead of landscape. I laid out everything on the floor before hanging the pieces up, spacing exactly how I wanted them. I spent a little time arranging to make it perfect. The best thing I did was to take a picture of it all laid out. Once you move pieces to start hanging them, it's easy to forget the arrangement you had. "
Now the wall is an attraction, instead of a big ole eyesore! It blends beautifully with the rest of the house and helps keep them both organized!
Don't forget that we just launched a Wall Art Contest! You can find all the details right here on this post!
And a special thank you to Brittany for helping out Prima (and your momma!) Your house looks even more beautiful! Come help me with mine now!
