Mica Powders + Flowers + Tags = Prima Heaven

 

Finnabair's colored Mica Powders are pigment-filled, shimmery powders that can be mixed with any Art Basics ingredient like gel or paste, brushed on top of surfaces, or mixed with water and applied with a sprayer. The new Iridescent Mica Powders are their shy cousins. They won't add bold color to your project, but they shimmer and shine like no one's business when the light reflects off the project!

 

 

So what do you get when you mix some of Finn's new Mica Powders, a few Prima flowers, and arrange them on a tag? Pure Prima gorgeousness filled with shimmer! Let's show you the Mica Powders in action!

 

 

Mona Pendleton created a steampunk-style tag using an assortment of beautiful and shimmery Mica Powders! You can spot them on her fun flower face, the metals, along with a variety of fun embellishments. The whole tag is just gorgeous with its contrasting elements and fun effects.

Mona mixed mica powder with soft matte gel for softer colors, but also mixed it with black gesso for a bold, yet very unique effect! Try it both ways and see what results you can create.

Our next two tags are Christmas-focused showing us how BEAUTIFUL the Iridescent Micas are when added to any Prima product! Brush them lightly on papers, flowers, chipboard, and more for sparkly, magical fun!

 

 

As with most iridescent mica powders the colours are always more vibrant when applied to a dark background, but for my tag I didn't want a super "in your face" colouring of gold. I wanted more of a subtle toning that is reflected when the light catches it. It really adds depth and eye-catching contrast. What I really love about the iridescent mica powder is when it is applied to a lighter patterned paper it allows the gorgeous pattern on the paper to still been seen through it, while giving it a reflective vibrance. ~Joanne Bain

Maiko Miwa set a wondrous stage with her "Christmas Morning" tag! Using the Gold Opal Iridescent Mica, she created a magical snow globe effect by mixing it with 3D Gloss Gel and applying it over floral petite and a  lace-designed stencil to create a blustering snowstorm. The Mica mix was also painted on the papers and flowers for an overall sparkly essence...just like a brand-new snowfall reflects the brilliant sunshine!
