With Pinterest around for inspiration and motivation, creating home decor pieces has never been so popular! It's satisfying to create something YOURSELF, plus it often saves a lot of money...and you get the COLORS you want! It's a win-win all around. Today we have two of our specialists here sharing two very different, yet both absolutely stunning home decor pieces that you can create yourself with just a few Prima products! DIY by Prima has never been more beautiful!

"I love using lanterns through-out my home. Today I am sharing a lantern to be used indoors as an accent for my craft studio. I started with a white lantern from my local art supply store. I kept the design simple by adding just a few key pieces. At the very top of the lantern, I applied black sand texture paste and allowed it to dry overnight. Next, I added metal embellishments to each section of the top of the lantern." ~Robin Shakoor

"The focal point of my lantern are beautiful Relics & Artifacts archival cast pieces. I chose to use the heart and flame from the Chivalry collection. I embellished the heart by applying soft gloss gel, then covering it with midnight blue glass glitter. I also added black and white glitter to the top of the heart, just below the flames. I added Inka Gold in Hematite and Silver to the flames to create a beautiful luster on the piece. Next I attached my archival cast heart and flame design directly to the glass door of the front door of the lantern. To finish the design, I added a piece of cardstock to the inside back of the lantern. Just a few steps to a beautiful, one-of-a-kind home decor piece."

You know those very inexpensive baskets you find everywhere and usually end up tossing away? Well, don't do that! Ania Hababicka shows us how to take those and turn them into shabby-chic gorgeousness today! Use it to store ribbons, washi tape, your new Prima Palette Markers, and so much more!

Start with ANY basket! Add a coat of Art Basics Heavy Gesso in white. Then start adding your decorative elements...new metals by IOD, flowers, resins, and anything you LOVE! Glue it all on then cover with a good spray of Chrome Color Bloom.
Next pick out two of your favorite coordinating Color Bloom sprays. Anna chose Soft Teal and Glistening Waves. Spray each color on the basket here and there. (Spray close to basket for concentrated color, back up for a softer overall spray.)
The end result is a beautiful, very useful home decor piece customized just for your room! And all you used were a few resins, metals, and flowers! (What a GREAT way to use up left-over, mismatched flowers!)
