What can you use Oil Pastels on? Just about anything you can think of! Our first project is by the IOD gals themselves! Josie colored an old wood box and turned it into a gorgeous, shabby chic home decor piece!
"Needless to say " was over the moon to get our new paintables and water soluble pastels in my hot little hands, but I had a mission- I needed a stylish box to place by my tub with guest towels, and soaps, and such. I started with a bare, vintage fruit crate, and ended with something I love that will make guests feel special! :)" ~IOD Josie
"First paint an old box any color you wish with Prima's Chalkboard Paint! Next add Oil Pastels. "I used restraint and limited my palette to mostly Prussian Blue, to achieve a serene, spa-like feel, perfect for bathroom decor."
"Color the box with Prussian Blue Oil Pastel. Adhere one of IOD's new Paintables to the front of the box. Cut it out to create a varied shape."
"Next add color to the Paintable with oil pastels! Blend with your finger, or use a waterbrush, for a shabby chic look."
"It's okay to let a few colored "drips" run down the box. When done coloring, seal with varnish or gloss gel. The varnish seals in the color, so that the areas where the oil pastels were used on the wood won't wash away."
"I happened to have an old silver tray that fit perfectly on top, so I could fill half with towels, and use the remaining space for pretty bath foofies! :) Bubble bath, anyone?!"
