It's May and Our Challenges Are READY!

 

Can you believe that it is MAY already? Where has the year gone? In parts of the world springtime is here, birds are chirping, flowers are blooming, and everyone is itching to get done with school! Why not celebrate the changes with a few of our challenges? It's a GREAT way to get those photos and memories documented, or create a new home decor piece. Just wait until you see the BAP and PPP this month!

 

Isn't this color palette a beauty? Trendy is one word that perfectly describes it, while beautiful is another! With hints of soft neutrals, splashes of pink and coral, that luscious mint, and a touch of summer yellow...this palette is simply a delight to work with. Why not join in the color fun and create ANY Prima-based project for our challenge? We have a few samples to inspire you, followed by the entry link!

Our first sample using the PPP is by a gorgeous and very talented gal, Stephanie Schütze...who also happens to be our Guest Designer for May! Stephanie Schütze is a mixed media artist, scrapbooker, art journaler with a passion for drawing who lives with her two sweet daughters and her husband in Germany. She designs for several design teams like Donna Downey Artist Gang, Scrapbook Adhesives by 3l; she is a Presenter and demonstrator at HSE24 Germany for Sizzix, and she loves to share her passion through Mixed-Media and Scrapbooking Workshops.

"Adorable" - The PPP colours this month are so soft and pretty. I used white cardstock to create a light mixed-media background using Prima products. Then I added this photo of my daughter flying a kite. I added my own wired string to make it seem as if she's holding the resin frame as a kite. ~Keren Tamir

1. Choose two watercolor pencil shades. 2. Add color directly to canvas pieces. 3. Blend colors together with our new waterbrush! 4. Dry and add canvas flowers and leaves to card.

The sketch is a fabulous incentive to give my special photo a great frame. I used papers from the April Special Delivery Kit-some beautiful papers from the Free Spirit Collection. Project Inspiration:  I knew when I picked up the May BAP sketch, that I wanted to highlight the wording in the sketch as this was my favorite part of the sketch.  So, I chose a bold and emotional title to centralize my feeling of the photo.  Then, I built upon the bold title by using phrases in stamps and rub-ons to highlight around my photo.  I added the stamp of the lungs (for further emphasis on the title, “I Breathe You”) using a Mixed-Media Cling Stamp - Treasured Memories 7.  The delicate vellum butterfly brings a touch of beauty, magic, freedom and love to blend all the elements together.  An ephemera card full of butterflies tucked away behind the photo brings in more depth to the vellum butterfly.  ~Wendy Morris Saponaro
