Our brand-new, amazing line is shipping NOW! You are going to want to get your hands on these gorgeous new pieces. There's everything from super trendy milagros and ex votos to cherubs, crosses, and more. Mix and match to create unique projects for jewelry, home decor, mini-albums, favors, and so much more.
Mix and match the versatile pieces to create ANY mix you love! Above we've shown a few ideas that work well together. Then get to coloring them! Sandra Evertson, our line designer, has started a Relics & Artifacts Facebook Group where she will share tips, techniques, projects, give-aways, and so much more. Here is just a sample of one of her amazing tips for adding paint to the items!
"To save time when I paint the gold onto the ex votos (hearts) I mix three different colors of gold in quarter-sized puddles on my pallet. (I use recycled plastic peanut can lids for pallets. They have a nice little edge that creates a “well” where I put water in.) Anyway I use a bright gold, a pure gold, and an antique gold acrylic color. Then to one side I put a quarter-sized puddle of dark chocolate brown. First dip your paint brush in the gold tones, swish it around so that your brush has all three gold tones on it. Don’t swish so much that you blend the colors, then paint over your entire flaming heart, this will create little streaks of all three colors on the heart." ~Sandra
"Put a little dab of water on your brush and pick up some of the dark brown (making sure you have more water on your brush than paint.) I started out as a teenager in watercolors, so I always use all of my paints with a very “watery” consistency! Swipe over the entire piece letting the watery brown fall into all the crevasses. It will pretty much do that naturally; that's the beauty of these pieces!"
"I do the same with any color I use… like a green color, I pick three nice green tones: a dark, a medium tone, and a very light one and apply them the same way. For an extra “aged” touch- mix up a light wash of a taupe-beige tone and make sure it's watered down. Then swipe across and wipe off any excess. For a finishing touch use a fine detail brush and paint in lines and accents where you see fit!" :)
This sample by Sandra shows just how sweet one of her pieces can be on a home decor project! A little hand-painting goes perfectly with the stitched hoop. (R&A: Ex Votos #941567, Crosse Icons #941598)
Or you can embellish your very own jewelry bust! Add thick coats of beige paint to the Relics & Artifacts. Then glue them to the bust (found at Michael's) with a strong glue. Layer your jewelry on top! What a show-stopper! (R&A: Rising Spirit 941710)
Did you know you can layer fabric on top of our R&A pieces? Oh, yes, you can! And it will look magnificent!
Sandra added a taupe velvet fabric over this Ex Voto. Use a fabric glue (lightly) so the fabric adheres nicely to the piece, then finish it off with flames of copper leaf!
Prima Products: 941697 R&A-Chivalry, 941598 R&A Crosse Icons, 961466 Art Basics-Gesso -Clear, 961398 Art Basics-3D Matte Gel, 961749 Mica Flakes-Frosted, 573911 Color Bloom Spray-Gilded, 573799 Color Bloom Spray-Vintage Coal, 580315 Empress Gold, 961589 Glitter Set-Crimson, 961596 Luminous, 564209 Trim, Bloom Stencil-Spark 980399
"I've mentioned many times I love to collect and buy old or interesting objects (or both!) of all kinds. Some of you know the story of two wooden rabbits (!), milk bottles and a crate or my new "adopted relatives" I found in the antique store in Glasgow. One of my big weaknesses are vintage books - especially with beautiful old illustrations, typography, handwritten notes, and hard-covers...which make them perfect for my art journals." ~Finnabair
"I love decorating them and I love creating inside of them, changing these forgotten, unwanted pieces of paper into something new, artistic and very personal. This is the example of one of "these" books. I loved this brown cover from the first sight and I was hoping I would find a way to show it's natural beauty. Then the idea of using the "flaming heart" came to my mind and the whole process happened very quickly!"
See how Finn took the Relics & Artifacts and added her own white crackle paste...and so many more FUN elements. You can catch her whole process right here on her blog using her very own Art Recipe!
Wasn't that FUN? I'm itching to get my hands on those Relics & Artifacts and make myself a cute framed home decor piece. What ideas do YOU have?
Each of these pieces has such possibilities!
