Since 1789 Americans have been celebrating a day or two of thanksgiving with friends and family all centered around a table of bounty! It became an official holiday in 1863 by President Lincoln, in the midst of a horrible civil war, who proclaimed, "The year that is drawing towards its close, has been filled with the blessings of fruitful fields and healthful skies. To these bounties, which are so constantly enjoyed that we are prone to forget the source from which they come, others have been added..."
A few things have changed since that first holiday...we now have football and shopping added in to the craziness! However, it is always GOOD to pull together those friends and family who are near to your heart; to create memories, share lots of laughs, and just hang out together. May this Thanksgiving be extra blessed for each of YOU as you celebrate!
Amélie, who just moved to the states from France, is celebrating a true American Thanksgiving with her gorgeous card she created just for us today! "I wanted to create a very simple card to simply say “Thanks” and show how grateful I am for everything in my life and, especially, for all those who are part of my life!" ~Amélie Mordret
