With Thanksgiving!

Today in the states we are celebrating Thanksgiving. It is a wonderful time of the year to give thanks for all you have, for your wonderful friends, and loving family. (We really should keep this mindset year round, right?)

 Ready for some inspiration?

When you use the Gelli-Art plate you can create a wide variety of looks and prints just by switching out the paint colors, and your textured elements. Prima's stencils and stamps work wonderfully for this fun process. Of course you can try adding ANYTHING with the press (just take a peek at what our gals tried!)

 

Once your first mono-print is done you can also lift a "ghost print" from the left-over paint design on the plate. Our gals will be showcasing their original project using their first print, PLUS a tag using their ghost print!

Floral Canvas

Happy Thanksgiving. This fall season I have been really thinking about what I am thankful for. First and foremost, of course, I am thankful for my faith, family, and friends, but it goes deeper. I also have been thankful for the awesome year of crafting I have had. It has allowed me to build my strengths, tear down insecurities, and find the "artist" that has been hidden in me. It felt only appropriate to create something that encompassed these feelings of creativity. I am thankful for the craft that saved me in more ways than one. ~Adrienne

 

 

This was my first time creating using the Gelli Plate and I was honestly not sure where to begin. I caught on very quickly with the help of a brief tutorial on their website and so, I grabbed some fall-themed paints and began. ~Adrienne

 

Directions

 

1. I laid down my first layer with my Elementals Stencils and some bronze-colored paint.

 

2. For the second layer I spread some plum and maroon colors on my plate and spread some Prima Paper blooms on top. What I thought was cool about this step is that the paper flowers had some interesting creases in them which, in the end, not only made floral imprints on my piece, but also picked up the paint and I was able to flip them over and use them as embellishments!

 

3. What I like most about this is that my paper was a bit bigger than the plate, but I just improvised by adding some stitching with Prima Stamp and it turned out looking like a patchwork quilt of sorts.

Adrienne then used the "ghost print" from the paint design left on the Gelli-Arts printing plate to create this gorgeous tag!

 

We just love the traditional fall colors splashed with a dose of gorgeous black to make this tag really stand out!

With Love and Gratitude Card

I used real leaves that I collected from the ground to mask atop the Gelli-Art plate (after I added the paint.) The first layer was yellow with maple leaves.~Keren

 

 

Then I painted in orange and masked the other autumn leaves I had collected."

So Thankful For

While experimenting with the Gelli-Arts Plate, I decided that the prints would look amazing against a black backdrop. However, I did not have any black cardstock on hand, but I did have the Everyday Vintage Chalkboard Notecards!! ~Kelly

 

 

I printed a whole bunch of them using a Prima stencil and various bright acrylic paints; then layered them to create a fun backdrop for the photos on my page.

Thanksgiving Place Cards

I love any reason that pushes me to be more thankful! As I was working on this project I thought of who & what I am most thankful for this holiday. And, right now, that is my sweet family. After recently having surgery I had to rely on all of them so much for my most basic needs. Each child (and their sweetheart) had a special way of touching my heart through their acts of selfless love and unique talents. So, I decided to make personalized place cards that they could keep long after the holiday. On the back of each is a personal note of gratitude from my "very full" momma's heart. ~Sharon

 

 

I loved using the Gelli-Arts plate to create my unqiue background. This was my first time and I had so much fun just playing with paint and stencils. I chose two paint colors. (I also used another white paint (Glamour Dust by DecoArt) that has a shimmer finish that sparkles ever so slightly.)

 

Directions

1. I applied the burnt orange paint to the plate first.

2. I set the large Donna Downey stencil on top of the paint (press down firmly) and applied white paint over that.

3. Next I removed the stencil (it will remove some of the paint) and set a tag on the fun design. Rub over it with your hand and remove! Depending on how much surface is painted you can get multiple tags from each step!

4. Take another tag and run over the design again for the ghost print.

5. I added a bit more orange paint on top of the doily stencil, spread it out, removed the stencil, and did another set of tags that coordinate with the first two, but are unique.

 

Will's place card uses my first print. It is a bit bolder and has more paint on it than the ghost print, but they are both gorgeous to me! I love how unique each print is-just like my children and their sweeties. To decorate I pulled out some of my favorite Prima embellies! The wood frame is rubbed with gold PanPastel for shimmer. Then I quickly added ribbon, flowers, leaves, and alphabet letters. (If your children have longer names just use a smaller alphabet.)
