We like to decorate the front of the house with all types of Halloween decor. Then on October 31, we set up a tape player(yes, tape player and a tape with Halloween phrases) by the front window. I watch from another window for the kids coming up to the door and signal my husband to start the tape with phrases such as "don't ring that doorbell" in a creepy voice. We can see the kids hesitate before they reach the front door. I then open the door and hand out the candy. We have so much fun. I love Halloween!

Spooktacular projects and goodies! Hallowe'en is one of my fav times of year/holiday... we've been getting the front yard looking like a graveyard for a few years now and carve many a pumpkin for Hallowe'en night when those little ones come around. If Hallowe'en falls on a Friday or weekend we hold a party... during the week after the trick'or'treaters have come by we head up to our niece/nephews place and enjoy some goulish fun with everyone and end the night with fireworks!

The projects are really great! I like that there is several different types of things. I love Halloween. I decorate inside and out and love giving out the candy especially to the little ones. I also roast pumpkin seeds while handing out the candy.

Halloween is my favorite holiday (followed closely by Christmas)... I start with decorations at the office and at home. I celebrate the actual date by taking the afternoon off work and heading home to hand out treats to all the little ones in our neighborhood who trick-or-treat early. I love to see their little costumes and more often than not, I'm in costume, too. It's also my father's and niece's birthday so I make birthday/Halloween cards for them beforehand so they will arrive in time for the big day!
Posted by: Carla Bange | Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at 03:33 AM

I've now linked this blog up to my facebook page using the required hashtag!!!
and oops... I forgot to say in my previous comment how I celebrate Halloween... well, being as my kids are now grown up and not interested (they're 20 & 17), I just like to dress the living room bay window and my entrance door and canopy up (which is to the front of the house) with a few halloween icons, then we get loads of treats in a massive bowl and keep answering the door to all the young kids out with their parents trick or treating... I've even thought this year that I might do the unexpected and dress up to answer the door. It appears for us that our trick or treating days are over - so I enthuse over all the little kids who do it now - it brings back all the memories of when my boys were doing it - which doesn't feel like that long ago!!!

Living in Australia, we don't really celebrate Halloween and the northern tropics doesn't really experience autumn. We have two seasons here - wet and dry. It doesn't mean I don't appreciate the great Halloween designs I see by crafters all over the internet, though. :)

On Halloween, we love to set up our chairs in the driveway at our house and hand out candy to all the cute trick or treaters. We will start a fire in the fire pit, if it is cold enough and just sit back a watch the Parade begin! We like to wear rabbit or doggy ears headbands or dress like zombies. It's fun to see the look on all the kiddos face and get their reaction. Usually, they don't realize we are zombies until they get close to us and are reaching their hand into our bowl of candy. So much fun!
