In the month of May we will be introducing you to the talented product designers who create some of our amazing product lines. Here you will get to know a little bit about them and the designs they have created.
Today we would like to introduce to you, Jodie Lee. 'Jodie Lee' Patterson is the designer behind the popular "Nature Garden and "Fairy Belle" line of scrapbook collections. An internationally renowned paper crafts designer, Jodie Lee combines a flair for modern design with her love of vintage imagery, and old-world charm, making her a perfect fit for Prima.
- My first name is Jodie, my middle name is Lee. I'm a flower child of the 1970s, I've always loved nature. Almost everything I own has flowers on it.
- I grew up in Australia and hung out at the beach almost every day with Dad. Dad was a local rock guitarist who just happened to look like Barry Gibb from the Bee Gees. I thought he was very cool.
- My parents were hippies - very, relaxed, creative, loving people, who fostered my creativity. Dad was always writing music, and Mum was always making something crafty. Her copper art flowers, macrame hangers and patchwork cushions were all over the house.
- I used to manage a retro clothing store in the alternative part of Sydney in the 90s. I wore a lot of bright polyester back then :)
- Before moving to the USA (8 years ago), I was a newspaper and TV journalist for 10 years in Australia. I got to interview all kinds of famous people like Aussie, Olivia Newton John.
- My two favorite men in my life are my son Luca (8), and my hunky husband Franco. Franco is a Swiss/Italian guy who won a national championship in Karate, and just got a job as Dean at a University in Southern California.
- I have a beautiful daughter Georgia (10). She loves animals, gardening, and is a faster scrapbooker than me. She would have to be Prima's #1 fan.
- I am moving to Southern Cali in July, 2012. I will be 40 mins from the beach, and 30 mins from Prima, and this suits me just fine :)
The Story behind the Fairy Belle Collection and Nature Garden Collections:
The name 'Fairy Belle' was inspired by an antique song sheet in my collection. It fits perfectly with the fairy ballerina images on this line - an amazing collection of beautiful hand-drawn images of Ballerinas from the romantic period (last century). These very rare images were licensed from the Victoria and Albert museum in London, one of the only museum in the world to house the images. The papers took months to create, because of the great detail and the hundreds of different textural layers you see. I had to restore the images of the ballerinas from the originals, which had faded and gotten a little moldy :)
Here are some photos of the originals ...
The Nature Garden was another fun collection to create, and I wanted it to be a little darker, earthier in color. I had intended it to be just flowers, but as you can see, I couldn't resist putting some fairies in there again! A lot of the images came from antique children's books or botanical books in my collection. ~Jodie Lee

Both of these collections are gorgeous. I received them last week - the papers are so beautiful, and the collection of elements are perfection. I look forward to seeing more of Jodie Lee's designs in the Prima line.

Hi Jodie Lee,
Thanks for getting in touch through my Youtube Sparkle Heart Tutorial. I remember you from CHA - 2011. I just LOVE the Fairy Belle papers + your other designs and so do my students and customers. We love the 6 x 6 pads because of the small pictures and prints. They are just perfect for Paper Quilting. Hope to catch up again if you are going to CHA in January. I'll be on the McCall's booth. Bye for now - Michaelafrom Paper Quilt Creations
