Now on to a few amazing layouts specially made for you from our talented designer, Julie Balzer. Julie will show us a fun, new way to use lovely Prima patterned papers!
Julie Balzer creates a stunning pinwheel effect with patterned paper on this lovely layout.. What a fabulous way to mix lots of patterns and colors...AND use up those paper scraps you've been saving!
A few tips from Julie:
- Dye the lace black using spray ink.
- The sunburst design of the patterned paper was created by cutting random long triangles and laying them next to each other until a circle was completed. Clip off the excess paper that hangs off of the edges.
- Use a “blanket stitch” on your sewing machine to create the outside border.
A Sense of Mischief Supplies:
- Patterned Paper: Prima (#843014, 843052, 843038, 842970)
- Sequins: Prima (#535131)
- Lace: Prima
- Alphas: Prima (#544225)

Julie used the same technique on this gorgeous canvas wall hanging.
Dress up your doll-form Prima-style...then add to the gorgeous sunburst paper effect for a lovely customized piece for your studio!
Wrap the paper around the sides for a professional finish.
Tips from Julie:
- Draw out the background stripes with a pencil and then cut strips
- to fit the canvas. Be sure to wrap the ends of papers all the
- way around the canvas for a finished edge.
- Rub grey Distress Stickles into the cracks between papers to
- add a sparkly grout.
- Draw the dress form on the backside of cardstock with a pencil and
- then cut it out. Stictch the clothes directly onto the dress form
- (including the lace collar and the pleated skirt). Once the mannequin
- is fully dressed adhere her to the canvas with foam adhesive, for a
- bit of a lift.
- Stamp the tag and then wash over the image with gesso. Paint along the edge, add some embellishments and feed it through a typewriter.
- Splash the background canvas with the same turquoise
- paint used to write “create.” It helps to tie it all together!
Supplies:
- Patterned Paper: Prima (#841461, 813178, 841515, 841102, 813147, 841119)
- Sequin Centers: Prima (#535216)
- Rhinestones: Prima (#530914)
- Stamp: Prima
- Lace: Prima
