Today we have a fabulous designer from the states to introduce you to! Jamie Dougherty not only does gorgeous layouts, she is just as amazing with mixed media and altered projects. We are very excited to introduce you to her!
Hello everyone, my name is Jamie Dougherty and I live in Southern California with my husband and our two children, I am blessed with the opportunity to work on my art full time while being there for my kids.
My children are my rock! They keep me busy but they are the joys of my life. They are a true source of inspiration. So thankful for them.
And here is the love of my life and my best friend. It takes me the effort of pulling teeth to get him to stop for a picture so, as you can see, this one is a couple of years old- lol. He supports me in everything I do, even if he thinks I'm crazy for doing it.
I grew up and now raise our family here in Ramona, CA. Ramona is know as the "Valley of the Sun". It's a small town east of San Diego. Even though we live in the country, we are still in driving distance to everything. We can make a day trip to the beach, the desert, or the mountains with in an half an hour drive.
There is a lot of open space here. Beautiful scenery to inspire any artist. So much of the land is still used for grazing cattle, orchards and farms. We are the backcountry with convenience :)
I love walking down main street and visiting our many antique shops, Karlie and I go on trips to find babbles and trinkets to use on projects. Well she usually is on the look out for anything resembling a horse.
I love the history of where I grew up. It is one of the first towns settled in Southern CA during the gold rush. Many of the main buildings still stand today with the help of our community.
As a family we love to go to the river, riding in the boat, playing on the beach or offroading with the ATVS. We spend a lot of time with my parents and I feel blessed to be so close to them.
These are pictures I took while on the Colorado River. The perfect sunset.
I was raised around many different talented and artistic people who were very encouraging and supportive, and always teaching me new skills in arts and crafts. When I reached high school my main focus became painting and sculpting. Life has taken over and my love for art took a backseat to family, but when my daughter was born in 2003 I decided to begin scrapbooking, taking those memories and journaling them for future generations.
Like everyone my style has morphed and expanded since I began. Recently I went back to my roots of fine arts and meld my two passions together. Bringing my paper arts into my fine mixed media skills. My style is eclectic and varies on the design and subject I'm creating for, I don't limit myself with a label. I love to step outside of the box and push my limits. I enjoy teaching others the skills I have learned and created and inspiring others to find their own styles and creativity.
I created this Lo using the Back Stage Paper Collection (formerly Moulin Rouge.) The picture is of an antique sewing machine I was given, that had belonged to my Great Grandmother. I think this paper line fits the pictures perfectly. The deep colors and rich design reminds me of the design and style of the sewing machine itself.

I am in LOVE with the new Vintage trinkets line. They can be used for so many different projects and can be altered to fit your needs. I used Tattered Angels Glimmer Glaze to color the trinkets on this necklace. I used the back to an old clock and layered my pieces on top of it. The contrast of the silver chain, I think makes the flower centers stand out.
An Arco Iris Flower altered with Glimmer Glaze, is the finishing touch.
