I was recently inspired by the fabulous Cari Fennell. Who isn't, right? Cari has the most amazing eye for taking something and making something completely unexpected. I especially admire her reuse of packaging in her projects. We are both teaching mini-workshops at the Inspired event in May. And that is where I saw this fabulous Art Tin Workshop that she was teaching. So I headed straight into my craft area to see what tin I could play with.
I took a Forever Flowers tin, that had been sitting on the shelf, sadly absent of flowers and decided to make it into something one of my girls would like in their bedroom.
After adding some Ranger Acrylic Paint and letting it dry, I added just a touch of Spun Sugar Distress Ink to the surface. Finally, I coated it with Distress Rock Candy Crackle Paint.
When this was completely dry, I sanded the surface in a few areas, to distress it further and allow some of the worn tin to show through. Then I cut a border from my stitched mulberry paper, added some felt Voila ribbon, a flower and leaves. I put a light touch of Tattered Angels Glimmer Glam on the edge of the ribbon and the lid before placing Say It In Pearls embellishments around the top of the ribbon and lid. I quick spritz of Vintage Pink Glimmer Mist to the flower petals, and I was done.
And Voila! I have a pretty tin. Just for fun, I put some picture pebbles along the bottom to make it a footed tin.
Products used in this project:
- Stitched Mulberry
- Say It In Pearls borders
- Voila self-adhesive ribbon
- tin
