Designer Adrienne Looman shares a cool technique with us on how to make your very own custom centers to use on your Prima flowers!
................................................................................................................................................
"
One of the most important materials that I use are these
round clear jelly stickers. You can find them at Wal-mart on a clear
sheet in the scrapbooking isle." (You could also try making your own
with a squeeze of Diamond Glaze or other clear acrylic glues like Glossy Accents.)
............................................................................................................................................
"Take a favorite patterned paper (new Prima
paper is perfect for this) and simply stick one large gel and one small gel
on it. Then cut them out."
..............................................................................................................................................
"
Once I have them cut out, I add another gel on the back of both of them to add a little bit more dimension. (So, one gel on the front of the paper and one of the same size on the back of the paper.)
Next is the fun part! :)
Decorating them!
For
this one I wanted it to look girly...aka LOTS of sparkles (you know how
we are!!) So first I used a liquid acrylic medium ( Glossy Accents by Ranger) instead of glue to
add glitter (this dries much quicker and is glossier than normal glue).
You can find it in Michaels near the resins."
...................................................................................................................................................
" I knew I wanted to add some rhinestones...but I didn't have any loose ones so instead of going out (aka I'm lazy lol) I had some Prima "Say it in Crystals" sheets...so I just picked some of those off the sheets and added them to my little embellishment (I get points for being inventive right???)"
....................................................................................................................................................
"
Voila! Here it is finished...along with a few other designs!"
.......................................................................................................................................................
Here is a variation shown step-by-step!
............................................................................................................................................................
Once completed Adrienne added it to the center of a Prima flower for a one-of-a-kind centerpiece!
................................................................................................................................................................
" You don't have to use flat paper underneath your gels...corrugated papers work just as well too! :)
On
this one, once I had everything in place, I adhered one of the Prima
"Say it in Crystals" rhinestone flower centers on top of the gel and
then I swiped a light layer of blue paint on top to customize it a
little more." Is this fun or what?? We hope you have enjoyed this tutorial by the super talented Adrienne! Watch out! This technique is absolutely addicting!
