Aida Haron is our latest Prima Guest Designer! She has entered and won prizes in some of our altered contests...she always creates such stunning designs! Let's get to know her a bit better!

1. When did you start scrapbooking and how did you get started?
Three
years ago I walked into a gorgeous rubber stamping shop in Singapore
and after a couple of months trying out the craft, I moved on to
scrapbooking (after wanting to expand stamping to more than just cards). At
that time scrapbooking was relatively new in Singapore and there was
a huge lack of current products...with scrappers having to DIY chipboard
alphas, frames or shapes. Fortunately that situation is in the past and
now we get supplies fairly quickly.
2. From where do you draw inspiration?
2. From where do you draw inspiration?
Mostly
from moments in my day...how I react to situations, my family...especially
my daughters...and the amazingly supportive and social scrapbooking
community who share their friendships with me. Also, just looking
at the beautiful papers gives me ideas.
.
3. Describe your style for us.
.
3. Describe your style for us.
Oh
dear, how about eclectic? It pretty much depends on
the papers I am using and I really swing from one end to the other.
Let's say I am making a layout featuring my teenage daughter and if
it's a moment that challenges me, than the layout would be edgy, punch-in-the-eye style. Other than that, I would say I like elegance in a
layout, and feel most comfortable with linear pages using papers with a
vintage feel.
4. How do you go about designing a page?
4. How do you go about designing a page?
I
usually have a set of photos I like, then look at the papers to try
to fit what it is I am feeling or trying to say. If there are techniques
that are suitable then I add them to the page.
5. In general, how long does it take you to do a page?
5. In general, how long does it take you to do a page?
Anything
between 45 minutes to three hours, depending on how complicated the
subject, and how many interruptions there are in the time I scrap. I try to finish
all the work in the morning when the girls are in school.
6. What is your favorite Prima product?
I LOVE the "Big Blooms"!!! And the elegant "French Can-Ection" series, as well as the Prima "Sprites".

7. What are 3 other products that you can't live without?
Papers, metals (like designer brads and photo hinges) and sticker tags !!!

8. What is/was one of your favorite scrapbook trends/fads?
Definitely the
newer document styles of scrapbooking using office supplies and
transparencies. It's not the easiest to carry off successfully, but
when the balance is right, it is fabulous and spunky.
9. Is there anything else you'd like to share with us?
9. Is there anything else you'd like to share with us?
My
life is happily busy with running the "Thrift Shop" in my daughter's
school; teaching at a scrapbook store in Singapore; as well
as moderating a popular family message board. This year I am helping my
daughter's dance school stage a huge concert to benefit the "Pathlight
School" and the "Autism Resource Centre" where we hope to raise enough
money to fully equip a therapy room. In Singapore special education and
private therapy is very expensive and the "Pathlight School" aims to make
education affordable for small income families who have ASD children.
Living
in Singapore occasionally makes me feel a little out of the US
scrapbooking loop, but I am thankful for the opportunities and the
openness of the US Scrapping forums I participate in. They provide an
invaluable source of information to trends in this craft and exposure
to the stunning work of scrappers who consistently try to push
themselves to be different.

Aida is a pro with Prima's brightly colored papers from the "Odyssey" Collection. The curves and the large Prima flower add to the playful feel of this design!
.......................................................................................................................................................................
"Teen" by Aida...is a beautiful mix of softer colors and sharp black accents. The patterned flowers from the "Petal Prints" collections are used effortlessly. The layered look is easy to achieve when mixing a few solid flowers in between the patterns.

Ahhh...isn't this altered box absolutely "Beautiful"? Aida tops this gorgeous creation off with a layered flower from the stunning "Renaissance" collection.
