Mirror Mirror on the wall...
Welcome on the Prima Educator blog. Today I will show you how to tansform a simple IKEA
mirror into an eyecatching object.
I used the cheapest IKEA mirror which has a wide wooden frame.
The mirror itself is glued into the frame at the backside with hot glue. With a sharp knife you can take the glass out and set it aside untill you finished with the frame. If you want to you can paint the edges of the opening and on the oustide of the frame.
Glue your frame on the back of the paper you want to use and cut out the opening in the middle of the frame and around the edges of the frame using a sharp craft knife.
After doing that I stamped on the frame using a foam stamps and a stamping ink color that is just slightly darker than the paper. Then I punched a border from patterned paper and applied it around the opening.
On the sides of the paper there were white swirly prints but because the mirror is smaller then a piece of scrapbook paper I lost those prints on 2 sides of the mirror. I used Prima clear stamps and white embossing powder to create similar swirls on the 2 cut off edges.
At this point I glued the mirror back into the frame using hot glue.
The SIIC bird was applied to patterend paper, cur out and than put on the bottom of the mirror using foam squares to give it depth.
Finally I embellished the mirror with SIICs and flowers.
And this is the final result:
