Mixed-Media is all the craze...and we don't see it going away anytime soon. So why not dip your toes in the MM pool and try it out! It doesn't matter if you do cards, tags, layouts, or canvases. Prima's mixed-media products and techniques can be used on ANY surface and project!
1. If you are a beginner who has never tried mixed-media start with stamping, spraying, and gesso! For gesso try adding it on different surfaces. It can be used as a primer; to white-wash paper, metal, or flowers; as a thick paint when applied over a stencil; or try thinning gesso with water and flicking on a project. It's all good fun and you'll love the effects! You are going to love how versatile gesso is!
2. Ready for another medium? A great choice for the next step is to start with Gloss Gel mixed with Glass Beads. Dab them on a flower center, on a tag to add color and dimension, or scatter around a layout to fill empty spots. You are going to LOVE the look when it dries. The gel acts like an adhesive so the beads stay put! Once you are comfortable with this step try changing the Art Ingredients you mix in. We have Art Sugar, Mica Powders, Micro-Beads, Glitter, and Glass Glitter. They all work beautifully when combined with gloss or matte gel! Just mix and paint on.
3. Once you are a pro you can combine multiple layers of the above steps to create gorgeous dimension and custom effects on your projects. Try mixing 3D Gel with Micro-Beads and spread over a stencil for amazing results. Once dry, paint over it with gel mixed with mica powder for glimmer and glam. Top with a touch of gesso here and there for a shabby chic look. The combinations are simply too numerous to list here, but we'd love to show you a few samples by our mixed-media experts!

"For this mini canvas I've used a variety of different mediums and techniques to create interest. There's some fun texture created with 3D Matte Gel, Micro Beads, Chalkboard Paint, and Crackle Paint...all mixed with denim fabric. I've added some marbling onto the leaves and topped these with a resin frame highlighted with inks and watercolour using Prima's brand new watercolor pencils." ~Fran Westmoreland
