Sometimes we just need to play. As I sat down to think about my first project for my "Designer Day" and I was overwhelmed with feelings of not knowing where to start. Ever have days like that? I put a few things together and nothing worked. An hour went by. Then I decided not to think and just play. A little bit of gauze here, some stamping, napkins, gesso and white paint, and before I realised something started to take shape. Throw in the beautiful "Tea Thyme" line, and add to the mix Ingvild Bolme's gorgeous resins and my project started to adopt a real shabby chic feel.
I love how stamps can add a layered feeling to a project. I have stamped on the base and layered it with Tea Thyme's Roses which can give your patterned paper roses a 3D feel to them.
Here, have just painted some gauze onto this layout, popping some Mod Podge on first to secure the gauze and then giving it a coat of gesso. I usually pop some gesso in a lid and give it a quick spray of water from my mini mister to thin out the consistency.

When finding yourself stuck for ideas, one idea is to go over to Pinterest and just browse the boards for inspiration. I saw a photo of a dress form, and used it an starting point for this next project. It was so easy to create and I love the feminine whimsical quality I finished up with.
Just take any chipboard dress form, and paint with gesso and dry. I love my shabby projects to have a chalky white finish, so for this I inked over the gesso, and once dry, distressed the edges. Next, I stamped Prima's crown stamp and the beautiful Flourish Frame Stamp using Ingvild Bolme's Black Chalk Ink Edger.

The Prima Press was perfect to use for the "Paris" letters. I just stamped them on some kraft paper and then used a small tag punch (upside down) to frame the letters. The skirt was just then layered on over some double sided tape to form a tutu. Adding some flowers just added that little something extra to the project. Lastly tie some jute string through a hole, and the project is finished !!!!

My last project combines my love of pastels using Prima's beautiful roses. There is nothing quite like them. I find loving Prima's products is not hard because everything works together so beautifully.
