Year End Wrap-Up (and a Give-Away!)

First of all: THANK YOU for your support of Prima throughout 2010!  We have LOVED reading your comments here on the blog, enjoyed your chats on our Live With Prima shows, and were absolutely thrilled to meet so many of you in person at our events! May we ALL have an even BETTER year in 2011!

Designer Day: Come Meet Stacy Cohen!

Designer Day is a chance for us to feature one of our talented design team members and have them share a bit about themselves, along with a few gorgeous projects. Today we have a lovely gal who brings us so many amazing projects, all with her delightful touches added to them.

Hi, everyone!    I’m from Los Angeles, California, born and raised here.   I live here with my loving husband, Robert, and our two darling daughters, Rebecca- age 8, and Danielle- age 7.  




My girls are the inspiration for all my scrapbooking and creative endeavors.  I call them my little muses. 




Where I live: One of the perks of living in Los Angeles is that there are so many things to do and see here.  We are minutes away from famous landmarks like the Hollywood Sign, the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and Groman’s Chinese Theater.  Here I am putting my hand in Marilyn Monroe’s handprints.




A short drive in the other direction takes us to the Santa Monica Pier and the beautiful Southern California beaches.




Work:  I work part-time as an insurance agent, specializing in health and life insurance.   I work with my mom and we always have a great time together, so it makes work not seem like “work.”  I’m fortunate that I only work part-time, so most of the day I get to be a stay-at-home-mom.  My flexible work schedule allows me to be there for my girls -- drive them to and from school, attend all their school events, volunteer for their classrooms, and be home with them when they are not in school. 

Scrapbooking:   I started scrapbooking in 2005 and I’ve been addicted ever since.   When I sit down at my scrap table and start creating, all of life’s day-to-day stresses go *poof*.  I’m so grateful that I discovered this wonderful hobby.  I always say: “It’s cheaper than therapy!” 

Joining the Prima Design Team was truly a dream come true for me.  I’ve been a huge Prima fan for years now, and working with the gorgeous Prima products makes my heart sing!

Here are a couple of my Prima projects. 

This first one is something I made a while back and it’s one of my personal favorites.  I started with a plain foam doll bodice and adorned it with Prima crystals, paper, lace and flowers.

If you’ve seen my layouts, then you know that I love to crochet on them.   My grandmother taught me how to crochet when I was a little girl.  I never learned the names of the various stitches so I can’t follow fancy crochet patterns, but I find that the basic stitches work just fine on scrapbook pages.

Live with Prima: Teal-tastic project with Lolly!

We have an amazing class tomorrow night with Lolly and she is working her teal magic on Prima packaging! That's right-the box she is working with is a container for Prima flowers! I remember having a conversation with her about this in early December. I told her I had the perfect products to use for a class and she told me she was up for the challenge. It turned out even better than I had imagined! This box is perfect to hold jewelry, embellishments, vacation treasures or make it into a shadow box...the possibilities are endless!

 Last night, we aired the first part of our Celebrate The Year Canvas Album class with Rebecca. If you missed it, you can see the class here: Canvas Album class Part 1  Part 2 of this album will be aired on January 4th. This is a great class to learn how to work with Prima canvas and the use of many art mediums. The next class, we will be decorating the album with lots of Prima goodies and completing the project.

Transparently Teal Keepsake Box with Lolly Chessie

Join Lolly as she shows you how to create a special wooden keepsake box using Prima vines and flowers! This little box can be used to give special handmade treats and can then be turned into a display case for your special treasures! And even though we love teal, any color would look great on this box!

I love to take images from the highlight moments and put them all together in one album to remind me of how much things have changed. This year I will be putting all of these memories into an eclectic 6x12 canvas album brimming with Prima goodness! This class will be so fun and filled with technique that we have decided to air it in two separate episodes! Join me as we get messy while reminiscing about the year!

Getting Ready for 2011!

Making a calendar for the next year is something that EVERYONE should do! And this year we are going to help you create one that is functional AND gorgeous!

The talented Jamie Dougherty created this FABULOUS desk calender for 2011 using a standard calendar template and some gorgeous Prima products.

Jamie created a "stand" for the calendar out of our thick Road Trip paper. Score a fold in the bottom to help the calendar stand up correctly on your desk.

The calendar pages were found right HERE! Just find the one you want and print it out. Jamie stacked her months together and added perforated lines at the top (Use a simple rotary sewing tool to do this) so she could tear each month off. Two large eyelets hold the pages together.

Next: Time to DECORATE! Jamie used Prima flowers, felt, pearls and alphas to create a gorgeous cluster on the calendar.
