Ingvild used lots of gorgeous Caboodle flowers and Prima lace! Here are the directions and supply list so you can make one!
- Lace
(#529451) (How much depends on the size of the glass you’re going to
use)
- Flowers
(Caboodles #528669 and #528959)
-
Butterfly
(Fluttering Butterflies-528379 or 528355 or 528362)
Other Supplies:;
- Two binding rings
- Glue gun
and glue
- A
tag
- Water
- Sugar
- A glass bowl
(this is used for a mold only)
- A small plastic bag
- White
paint
- Polystyrene ball
- Glue pads
- Knife
- A bowl (to have water and sugar in)
- Find a glass bowl that can handle heat (make sure your polystyrene ball fits inside. Approx half of the ball (or a bit less then that) should show over the edge of the glass . The glass bowl must not be too wide so the polystyrene ball will fall down to the bottom. Use your glue gun LATER to fasten the ball if it is not an exact fit. We will not put the ball inside the glass bowl YET.)
- Put the glass in the little plastic bag and fold the top of the bag into the glass. The plastic bag shall cover the glass, and the rest of the plastic bag you can just put inside of the glass. (You will eventually remove the glass after the lace has stiffened, thus the use of the plastic bag.)
- Now add laces around the bowl, starting from the bottom and working up to the top. Use a glue gun to glue the lace directly to the plastic, overlapping layers slightly.
- Fasten two binding rings on each site of the laces, as close to the upper edge as possible. Take a piece of lace and fold over each ring to make a hank. Be sure to fold approx. 1 inch backward over the lace again and fasten the hank with glue between the layers of laces.
- Boil a water/sugar mix until sugar dissolves. (50/50 sugar and water). Cool. When the water is approx. room temp, set the bowl in the mix. It has to be completely wet/covered.
- Remove the glass with laces. Set on plastic to dry over night. Sometimes it can take up to 48 hours before it isn’t sticky anymore. (drying time depends on humidity and how thick the lace is.) Let it dry approx. 48 hours. Before you leave it to dry, make sure the hank has the shape you want it to have.
- Now use a craft knife to cut off the top part of the plastic from the glass. Cut it as close as possible to the lace. Now you can push out the glass and remove it.
