Today we are going to spark up some holiday creativity with TNT.
Just in case you missed last week's post, TNT stands for the explosion of creativity that goes on every time I put together a technique post, as well as the fact that my craft area looks like a product bomb has gone off in it, once I'm finished with the project! As part of this weekly feature - we are going to utilize the chat feature, on the right-hand sidebar of this blog. Throughout the day, I will be fielding your questions on the topic of the techniques and tips featured here. If I cannot figure out an answer, I will take it to the team to research your question.
As often as possible we will feature the work of our fabulous design team as well as our artist-educators.
Our project for today is simple, versatile and really fun to make.
Assemble your materials. I'm not sure why they photograph this way, but the 'aqua' lollipop flowers are a nice emerald green in person:
Remove the mini-brad from the center of one of the Frosted Lollipop Flowers #526955. You will have several graduated circles with 'frosted' edges.
Fold the circle in half, keeping your eye on the hole in the center of the flower for later assembly.
Place a bit of strong adhesive, such as Fabritac on the fold. Now fold it in half again allowing the edges to slightly fan out on top of each other.
Do this for all of the circles from the original flower.
Use a hat pin blank, that you can get in the jewelry making department of your local craft store, to thread on the pieces, from smallest to largest. Be careful not to prick your fingers. This picture shows the project from behind so you can see the assembly.
Stagger them on top of each other to make a frosted tree. Cap the hat pin.
Cut apart the Say It In Studs Centers, removing the large center pieces and cutting the circles in half.
Use the more 'chunky' jeweled pieces at the bottom or 'heaviest branches' of the tree and place the more delicate looking pieces at the higher 'branches' overlapping them like a jeweled garland. I'm handling the underside of the adhesive a lot, so I put a little glue on the underside of my pieces to maintain their stickiness to my project.
Use a strong glue to adhere the jeweled star charm to the top of the blank hat pin.
It would be the perfect holiday Make and Take for your store; a simple tree ornament or decoration you can make with the kids or a great way to embellish a card with a piece of wearable art. I am definitely going to make a row of these along the bottom of a scrapbook page too. I put an ornament hanger through the loop of the charm and placed it on a tree. Isn't it cute?
