Hybrid Wednesday!

Amy Martin created this whimsical layout using both traditional and digital products! Amy used IOD Gem Silhouettes Baubles stamp & -Vera Lim Mixed Fancies stamp for the digital portions (available at PrimaHybrid.com) and then finished off the layout with Prima ribbons (519704), Mommy & Me papers (870218, 870256-cut out) and Prima Pebbles (881399)!

Here is a set of cards which can be used as-is, or greetings can be added with the custom chipboard stickers. To make the custom stickers, Jessica Gordon simply added greetings to the Tea and Silk chipmates stickers in Photoshop before printing them out. Then, add the stickers to the matching chipboard, and cover them with epoxy stickers.

Janine Koczwara created this very "chocolatey" layout using Prima's new Stitched Papers (cut apart), lots of Painterly Petals and a touch of Felt Mattie here and there! Janine does such a beautiful job pulling all of the products together to support her very CUTE photos!

Julie Fei-Fan Balzer created this fantastic layout starting with Flirty paper (812720) and adding lots of artistry and woodstock flowers (529130, 528492)! Julie added gesso to the paper before adding her flowers. She also painted the flowers with a few colors to pull the whole design together.

Oddbjorg Ringsby created this super cool mini-book with Prima's Life In Colors die-cut paper (910112)! Oddbjorg added part of a Felt Mattie (820787) to the front along with Prima lace and a very funky clasp! 

 

The inside holds lots of photos accented with a few wisely chosen Prima accents!

Julie Fei-Fan Balzer used a black background to showcase her gorgeous, sprayed flowers and Paintable paper!Julie started out with white Prima flowers and then used lots of GM to color them!

Tips:

• There is no adhesive on this layout!  Everything is held together by machine stitching.

• I cut the tags from Prima Paintables.  Here’s a tip: When you cut one corner, take the bit you cut off  and flip it over the other corner and cut along the line.  This way your tag will be symmetrical.

• I dyed the flowers and the tags by dragging them through pools of Glimmer Mist that I had sprayed onto a Teflon craft sheet.  It gives a very painterly effect.

• I colored the flocked stickers (“flowers”) with Glimmer Mist by using a paintbrush.

• To ensure that the crystals are adhered over such a bumpy surface, I used a small brayer to really press them into the layout.

Julie used lots of flowers on this masculine layout, but kept it from getting too feminine by using different shade  of brown Glimmer Mist on them. The background is created by using the Frames as masks and spraying three shades of GM on it. (Paint Gesso on an area to contain your journaling.)

Tips: Glimmer Mist can also be used as a paint.  Simply spray it on a craft sheet and dip your brush into it.  That’s how Julie colored the “M,” parts of the frames, and the flowers.

To stitch through the frames Julie simply used a paper piercer (with a mouse pad under my layout) to create a hole and then stitched through it.  It’s the same technique she used to stitch around the perimeter of the layout as well.

Amy Martin used a lovely mix of traditional & digital scrapbooking on this very cool layout!First spray your background with screens and GM. (Try spraying one color at a time and letting it dry to reduce paper buckling.) After the background is dry create your digital portion and print it directly on the background paper. How fun and SIMPLE is that?

Jo-Anne te Raa Chater created this sweet hanger complete with a photo of her sister. Jo-Anne covered the hanger with Prima paper, and then colored tissue paper with Glimmer Mist to add a subtle touch of airiness to the layout. (The tissue paper is scrunched together and tucked under the Prima flower.)

Jo-Anne also created this whimsical layout! She soaked book pages in Robin's Egg Blue Glimmer Mist and created a FUN pom-pom out of them! The doily is also sprayed (Cotton Candy Pink) and used to highlight the very cute photo. Signs of Spring papers, Prima Alphas stickers, and a yellow Scribble flower complete the layout!

Donna Downey's Canvas Album Feature!

Prima recently released a whole line of canvas goodies designed by Donna Downey for Prima. Today we have an extra special treat...using the canvas line...just for you!

Cari Fennell has simply created a masterpiece with her album! Just grab a cup of coffee, sit back, and enjoy each beautiful, delightful page!

Here is the gorgeous cover of our canvas album! The inside pages of the album measure about 8x8 inches and include canvas and archival-quality clear sheets. (Album-920197)

Cari painted and stamped on her album...then added her collage of papers, flowers, letters and stamped canvas bird! Stamping on canvas can be tricky with certain inks, so Cari used good, old acrylic paint!

Here's a close-up of that gorgeous cover...isn't the layering beautiful? Cari did substitute the ribbon and used her own to tie it all together (The album comes with cream ribbon ties.)

The inside of the album comes with 5 canvas, double-sided pages, and 5 clear insert sheets.

See how beautiful the canvas is with just a touch of paint and ink? If you want to add lots of color to your pages with paint, then focus on neutral papers and photos to really pull it all together.

Cari added some canvas tabs (920074-see right side of page). These are perfect for adding to any of the pages in the book! (Tabs: 9 varieties:  beauty, family, create, play, home, love, change, time, dream)

This page is a clear insert. Just complete your layout and slip inside the clear, stitched-edged, sheet. Then you can have fun with it! Cari added paint and stamped right on the clear material!

Cari tucked a canvas tag (920173) under the photo on this page. The tags are wonderful to work with and so very versatile on your pages! (Tags: 6 varieties: happiness, journey, inspire, be, grow and together)

 

Here is another shot of a clear sheet. They are just so much fun to play with! Staple on a tab to mark the spot too!

 

Featured on this lovely page is a stitched canvas flower (920128)! This is also part of the DD Canvas line. These shapes will all so much to you album! Prima offers the flower shape (shown above), a house (920104), fleur-de-lis (920111) and bird (920128-shown on the cover.)

It's Earth Day!

What could be a better day to re-purpose something than on Earth Day!

Today we have a few projects for you that show you how to re-use some of our packaging, and just "all around" be a bit more earth-friendly with your supplies. Some have been shown here before, but we wanted to put them all in one post for you! PLUS, we will be sharing a few Hybrid projects since it is Hybrid Day here on the blog too!

 Designer Amy Martin created this adorable book marker out of a Prima Pebbles package! She added some stitching for extra texture, a few letters for a cool title, and then she cut out some paper designs to embellish it. This allows the bookmark to lie flat while marking a page in your favorite novel!

Christiane Muller created this layout using the packaging from a transparency! How clever is that? Normally we would throw that away, but Christiane turned it into a gorgeous layout!

We have shown this layout by Cari Fennell before, but we just had to show you how you can use Prima's packaging in cool ways on layouts too! Cari used a Petit Fleur Package as a mat for her photos. What a great way to re-use it and add some great color to your design!

Janine Koczwara used a package from Prima flowers in this adorable layout! Just look at how much it adds to the design! Janine used pieces cut from packaging, too, to create the patchwork effect.

Sharon Laakkonen also used a package (Prima Flowers) for this wedding layout. Once again...just take a peek at how much fun the new packaging is to use on projects! This layout also has mulberry stitched paper (a renewable resource), lots of mulberry flowers and the backing off of a piece of Voila.

Now onto our HYBRID projects!!

 

Melinda Staley created these very fun cards using the same photo, but switching out the template to custom fit each recipient! Let's see how easy this to do when you combine traditional and digital scrapbooking!

Melinda designed the basics of the cards on the computer, using general colors to represent the papers She planned to use. The Loft 18 Silhouettes were re-sized to fit on the card and text and a small portion of a silhouette added to the chip-mate shapes.

Melinda copied the pieces of the card to be printed onto a new 8x10 document, and arranged them all to fit. She also copied the white strips from the cards so that it is easier to see where the edges of the silhouettes were on the transparent background of the document.

Once the pieces were printed, Melinda trimmed them to size and assembled the cards. (You do not have to have the specific flowers the silhouettes are designed for. Think of them more as a place holder for whatever physical flowers you have in your stash. She also left a small portion of the sticker paper backing on the back of the die cut chipboard shapes where they overlap the photos so that they would not damage them.


The photos are held on the mats with a corner slot punch so that they can be removed from the card easily once the cards are received.
