Introducing Our Latest Guest Designer!!

We recently took a little break from our Guest Design Team program to get ready for the big craft and trade show. We are picking it back up now and have a new line-up of guest designers coming up for your enjoyment! Since we opened up our Design Team we will be featuring designers from all over the world now!

Let's Welcome Anne Jo Lexander from Norway!!

.....................................................................................................

Anne_jo_lexander 1.  When did you start scrapbooking and how did you get started? I started out in the fall of 2006, having had some photos of my daughters baptism/christening that I wanted to do something "more" to than just put them into albums. I had heard about the word "scrapbooking" but never really grasped the concept what that was about - I just knew that was something Americans did to their photos - so I "googled" it and voila...a whole new world opened up... haven't looked back since :p

2. From where do you draw inspiration?
Hmm. I'm pretty boring, I don't feel I get inspired by anything fancy at all...just...plain products inspire me - I love it when papers or embellishments yells out "use me! use me!" and makes me plunge into a frenzy to actually use them... photos inspire me as well - whether it's a "perfect" photo, a "storytelling" photo (series) or just some old photos from my childhood triggering fond memories with me.

3. Describe your style for us.
A little bit of this, a little bit of that. I have to say though - I have periods where I stick to one "style" or "thing" I have to do all the time....then I swap cause I feel fed up with that and kinda force myself to do something totally different...that's what's so great about this hobby - you can do anything you please and there's no one to tell you whether you're doing it "right" or "wrong" or "you can't do that". Hmm. My friends claim I do have a style they can pick up anytime. I don't know myself.

4. How do you go about designing a page?
I don't know...most actually happen by mistake (read: I'm too impatient and glue too early :p  ) Usually - photos first, then papers, then embellishments....and a lot of headache in between :p

5. In general, how long does it take you to do a page?
Concentrated? I guess it takes about one-two hours. In reality...I have my own corner where I scrap - so projects are just lying there as I move from that desk to the PC to the kitchen to the living-room.... usually I print out photos in the evening before going to bed, pick a couple papers and think of a general placement... then I go to bed and the next day I keep working with it for 2-3 minutes at a time taking breaks all the time and by the evening I usually wrap it up. Layouts can stay on my desk for 2-3 days at a time though, but rarely longer than that. And I usually can't multi-task several layouts at a time - I have to finish one before I can start on the next.

6. What is your favorite Prima product?
Hmmmmm..it's a tie between the papers and the bling!! I totally love what IOD has brought to Prima, especially on the paper-side...and I love the bling - crystal swirls, frames, centerpieces...just love them :) Oh and those gorgeous flowers in the large tins...like Picasso and stuff.....dang, these were luscious (if that's even a word??)..actually, if I may say so, your flowers and the variety of them....I love how far you have come since "only" having "got flowers" in those adorable milk bottles!

7. What are 3 other products that you can't live without?
Uhm..I guess...besides patterned papers... white paint...sewing machine (when in doubt...sew it.)... and alphas....preferably dimensional, like chipboard.

8. What is/was one of your favorite scrapbook trends/fads?
Hum.. my fave fads are curled edges (like on the fairy angel layout), painting the edges of the photo or paper with white paint and grabbing my sewing machine when I think stuff looks boring.

9. Is there anything else you'd like to share with us?
I've babbled enough :) Thank you so much for having me for this guest-spot!! I'm just so delighted to even get this chance and hope I have not disappointed too much! :p  And here's my blog - http://aniia.blogspot.com

Anne_jo_fairyangel

Anne Jo has a gorgeous distressed look on most of her designs. She achieves this through paper distressing, painting, sewing, etc. This layout is no exception...just take a peek at the crackled paint frame on the photos! She emphasizes the main photo with a Say It In Crystals frame (517366), while bordering the photo collage with gorgeous Prima ribbon (519766). The Coquette papers (601997)are a perfect compliment for this extra feminine page!

.........................................................................................................................................................

Anne_jo_on_the_go

The Coquette papers (602024, 602017) on this layout really make a bold statement, while keeping the layout feminine! Prima flowers (Essentials 3-517281) frame the layout, while our large Coquette chipboard letters (517052) help pop the title. An IOD rub-on (516758) provides the perfect place to jot in the date!

..............................................................................................................................................................

Anne_jo_vasana

Vasana is the sweetest layout ever! Anne Jo uses a cluster of products to create texture and interest. First she frames the layout with Prima's polka-dot clear tape (517816), then she frames the photos with a scallop of polka-dot Coquette paper (602031).  A special journaling area is created with our Super Fabulous Journaling sheet (517748). Anne Jo also adds detailed photos all tied together and adhered to an Coquette chipboard shape! (516840)
Finally, a few flowers stamps (from the Build-A-Frame stamps (517731) add the perfect finishing accents to this beautiful page!
...............................................................................................................................................................

Thank you, Anne Jo, for designing for Prima this month! Your work is truly beautiful and we are especially pleased to feature the great country of Norway!

Prima's New **Build-A-Page**!

Prima has been planning some extra fun and we want to invite you to the party!  Welcome to our monthly "Build-A-Page" sketch feature!

.........................................................................................

Sketch_march_janinelanger_2Each month Prima will post a new sketch (here on the blog and in our newsletter) from one of our very talented sketch artists- Janine Langer and Anam Stubbington (along with a few surprise sketch guests!)

...................................................................................................................

Janine_langer Janine Langer-Sketch Artist

I am 31 years old, married, mother of a 5 year old son and I am living in Solingen, a small town near Cologne, Germany. I started scrapping in January, 2007, and I am totally obsessed with it. I love to capture memories and photos - especially of our everyday life - trusting that our son will love it when he is old enough to appreciate it. I try to use layering, distressing, adding texture and dimension on nearly every layout I make; if my hands aren't covered with ink when the layout is finished, I don't feel good. ;) I also love working with sketches, especially when I need a jump to start. It's a great way to start a layout, even if the result may not look the same as the sketch at the end. It's all about stretching you creativity. To learn more about me and my work you can visit my blog (http://scrap.wildline.de) or look at the Prima gallery.

...................................................................................................................

Anam Anam Stubbington-Sketch Artist

My name is Anam Stubbington. I have been into pretty paper and creating art for years, but got addicted to scrapbooking about 5 years ago while I was pregnant with my little girl. It combined 3 loves: paper, photographs and memories. I have since amassed a huge amount of scrapbooking stash and have filled many albums with memories. I love working with paper, using my sewing machine and my computer to create my memories. I love scrapping outside my 12x12 box, trying new techniques and learning from others, as well as sharing knowledge.

I am very stoked to be working with Prima Marketing because I am addicted to the Say It In Crystals swirls, the silk flowers and the gorgeous velvet ribbon!!

I currently live in Edmonton, Canada with my artsy hubby, Ian, and our little girl, Fay, (with a bump on the way for July. You can find out more about me on my blog ‘a little of my life’ at www.anamstubbington.typepad.com.

will win a Prima paper pack of their choice!*

(* Everyone is welcome to play along. For shipping purposes-only US/Canadian addresses will be chosen for the paper pack. We hope to include Internationals in the near future though! The paper pack includes six 12x12 double-sided papers, assorted flowers and 1 yard of coordinating ribbon!)
...................................................................................................................................................................

April's fabulous sketch (pictured above) is by Flower Girl Janine Langer! Let's take a peek at what the rest of the Flower Girls have done with this amazing sketch!

...........................................................................................

Janine_langer Janine Langer created a layout based on her very own sketch. She adds Harmony papers and a few Loft 18 felt flowers (520076)and Fancies mesh flowers (518813). A piece of Prima ribbon (820084) anchors the photos. Isn't this extra CUTE?

..................................................................................................................................................

Amy_hutchinson Amy Hutchinson kept the same design basics as the original sketch, but used it for a more masculine layout. Rue 88 (602086) paper sets a dramatic back drop for the rockin' pics! A slice of a Paintable  (602376) and a strip of a Felt Mattie (820688) add contrast while a Sweetheart flocked heart (523282)adds a whimsical touch.

...............................................................................................................................................

Celine_navarro Celine Navarro turned the sketch into a very feminine layout using the basic design structure. Tea & Silk paper (810498) adds a floral backdrop, while Belle Fleur flowers (524449) add some gorgeousness to the design! Prima's new Letter Perfect felt letters (811921) make for a bold title, while a few stamped butterflies (Build-A-Frame stamp set 517724) take off!

.......................................................................................................................................................

Iris_babao_uy Iris Babao-Uy changed the orientation for a few of her photos to make this darling layout! Angelique paper (810313) is the perfect backdrop for this girly page. A few accents (Painterly Petals, ribbons and gem centers) finish the design with extra sparkle!

...............................................................................................................................................................

Sharon_laakkonen_card_large Our Build-A-Page sketches can also be used for card inspiration too! The card features the Tea & Silk papers, along with a strip of a Felt Mattie (820725), Whispered Words letters (812041)and gorgeous Belle Fleur Primrose flowers (523640) centered with Prima gems. A teensy bit of mulberry Collage paper (850067)peeks out of the bottom. Card by Sharon Laakkonen

...............................................................................................................................................................

Janine_wahl Janine Wahl creates colorful customized layout using a Paintables base (602277)! She also substitutes 3 photos instead of the 4 on the sketch. Extra fun Dude papers (820183, 820206, 820169) serve as cut-out accents making this page that is as easy as 1,2,3!

..........................................................................................................................................................

Michelle_guray_march_2 Michelle Guray switches her photos off to the left side instead of the right. She also used 3 larger photos and adds circular shapes for the accents! Harmony and Dude papers adds loads of color, while a few Fun Felt flowers (520069, 520090) are sprinkled in for extra texture with one large pink Brad Bitt (511036) right in the center of this fabulous layout!

............................................................................................................................................................

Nura_keif_march Nura Keif adds clusters of accents exactly as the sketch suggested (Belle Fleur flowers- 520991). She used 4 photos and kept the title and journaling areas in the same areas as the original sketch. A  Felt Mattie serves as a foundational strip (820718) on top of the Angelique papers. A sticker from The Goods line (830137) is perfect for adding a bit of journaling, while a super large Morning Song Epoxy sticker (810160)serves as the title! Nura is so creative at using Prima products on her boy-focused pages!

...............................................................................................................................................................

Tish_treadaway

Tish Treadaway uses the fun Harmony papers (860110)to create this layout about a special play day! Trisha uses a new Paintables design (811303)as the matting on her 4 photos. A fun frame draws your eye to the main photo, while some sunny yellow Prima flowers add a bit of sunshine!

.................................................................................................................................................................

Sharon_laakkonen_large Sharon Laakkonen reversed the sketch orientation. She also used the sketched journaling area for a longer title (Felt letters-811952), while adding strips of journaling to the right side. The Harmony papers (860110) add perfect contrast, while pieces of Prima ribbon (820053, 810191) serve as anchors for the playful photos! See how one sketch can be interpreted in so many ways?

...............................................................................................................................................................

All of Prima's "Build-A-Page" sketches will be kept in a separate Photo Album right here on the blog for future reference.

Come on and join in the Prima fun!!

Simply create a card, layout or other item that is based on the sketch and post it in the Prima Gallery (add sketch and the month in the title-ex: "Build-A-Page: April") for your chance to WIN!!

March 26, 2008

Happy Wednesday!

Here are some fresh new designs from Flower Girl Nura Keif!
.......................................................................................................................................
Because "because" includes an explosion of bright flowers cut out from the gorgeous Harmony papers (860097, 860080). The angled Letter Perfect yellow felt letters (811914) add movement to the design, while the sweet touch of a few Painterly Petals add even more dimension to this gorgeous creation.

............................................................................................................................................
Pure "Pure" is a sweet and eclectic mix of papers and flowers. Urban Cosmos papers set the scene (870065, 870102, 870058), while Loft 18 felt flowers (520144) add a splash of boldness and texture! Nura created the title with a small piece of Prima's Paintables! An epoxy sentiment (810160) finishes this amazing layout off in style!

A Few More Designs...

..................................................................................................
Blisslayout Cindy Tobey
uses a jumbo swirl from The Goods line (shapes-830366) to add movement to her design. After tucking her main photo into the swirl she added the colorful curved Prima chipboard title (517083 & 810023). Blue flowers (506988) and ribbons (820084 & 810191) create a visual triangle on this stunning layout. The textured red heart from the Sweetheart line (523282) adds the finishing touch!

...................................................................................................
Believe_in_this_large Sharon Laakkonen
designed a soft, feminine layout using the Cavalier paper set (810511). Stamping a subtle image onto cream cardstock breaks up the other patterns (No. 5 stamp set 850043). The Voila ribbon (880200) that you see is actually the paper backing! (Yep, you can get twice the mileage from some of the Voila patterns if you peel the backing off carefully!)

A large Prima flower ( 513078), an epoxy sentiment (517854), and gorgeous Prima ribbon (820084, 810191) complete this design about her daughter, Breanna.
