Our Latest Prima Guest Designer is...

...Linda Maynard from Australia! (There sure is a ton of talent 'Down Under'!)  Come, let's meet Linda!

.........................................................................................................................

Headshot_linda_maynard
1. When did you start scrapbooking and how did you get started? In July 2005 I attended a beginner's scrapbooking class with my beautiful sister in-law.  The next day I went back and bought almost one of everything!  Looking back, it was all very basic back then, but it was enough to get me hooked.

2. From where do you draw your inspiration?
My inspiration always comes from my family, and usually my darling daughter Caitlin, who is almost four.  She is my precious gift from heaven and every time I look at her I thank God every day for sharing one of his angels with me.  I cherish my family and try to express my feelings show through in my creations.

3. Describe your style for us.
My style is constantly changing and evolving as I grow as a paper crafter.  I love trying new things and experimenting with different techniques.  I try to adapt my personal style to work in with the current trends and latest products.

4. How do you go about designing a page?
I like to try new approaches to designing each of my layouts. Sometimes there is a photo that is just crying out to be scrapped, so I will source specific materials with that particular image in mind. Usually I let the paper and embellishments speak to me.  Quite often I just look at a particular pattern or design and the layout immediately comes together. Then there are those frustrating times when I push bits and pieces around the page until I eventually surrender and start on something new.

5. In general, how long does it take you to do a page?
I usually spend about three hours on a layout, but have been known to whip them up in twenty minutes or procrastinate over for a whole week!

6. What is your favorite Prima product?
I absolutely love the Prima patterned papers and coordinated chipboard. I had lots of fun creating my layouts for the Prima Blog.  Actually one of my favourite words is Prima-licious! …it sums up how awesome the entire range is.

7. What are 3 other products that you can’t live without?
Prima Flowers of course!  Flowers, flowers and more flowers!!!  And rub-ons and glittery bling.

8. What is/was one of your favorite scrapbook trends/fads?
I really enjoy working from sketches.  Having a plan to work from makes scrapping a breeze and I particularly like the versatility of sketches.  Ten people could all start with the same sketch and everyone’s would look different.  I guess that’s the thing I love most about scrapping in general… there is no right or wrong way… Creativity is all about personal interpretation.

9. Is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
Only that I am incredibly grateful and feel so blessed for having the opportunity to share a little of myself with the world.  I almost fell off my chair from excitement when I received the invitation to be a Prima Guest Designer.  What an amazing honor to have received! I thank you from the bottom of my heart. xx

We love having Guest Designers...

...from all around the world! Today we will be featuring work from a very talented designer from Australia! Let's meet Jill Geraghty-Groves!
...............................................................................................................................................................................
Jill_gg_2

1.  When did you start scrapbooking and how did you get started?
I started scrapbooking in December 2005.  I really "stumbled" across it after seeing a friend's album and it took about, ooh, 3 minutes for it to become an addiction!

2. From where do you draw inspiration?
Inspiration comes in all shapes and forms.  Usually I am inspired by the photograph.  I find that some photos just "speak" to me...ie: a title comes directly to mind.  At other times, it's the paper or a particular product or embellishment that is just begging to be made into a layout.

3. Describe your style for us.
I don't really think I have a style as yet.  Sometimes I do very "busy" work, at other times the layout calls for simplicity.

4. How do you go about designing a page?
Photo, photo, photo!  I just start with the photo, think of a title and then play with all my goodies.

5. In general, how long does it take you to do a page?
It really does depend on the layout.  I'm not a fast scrapper at all...generally a few hours, sometimes a few days.  If I have an idea in mind, it can together pretty quickly.

6. What is your favorite Prima product?
In Australia, it is quite difficult to get a variety of Prima products apart from the flowers.  Naturally the flowers are my favourite.  Also, as I have 3 boys, I love to challenge myself to use flowers on most layouts without making them look feminine.

7. What are 3 other products that you can't live without?
Chipboard, chipboard alphabet stickers and ribbon.

8. Is there anything else you'd like to share with us.
As a mum of three boys, I really would love people to try and be "brave" enough to see outside the square.  Try and use feminine colours and flowers, etc. to make a masculine layout.  I think the main thing with scrapbooking is that people shouldn't be scared of it...you are completely in control of the
situation so change things to get them looking how you'd like them to look! My blog address is:  http://jillgg.typepad.com/jillygg/
